Death Benefits

Workers' compensation provides income and medical benefits for most workers who are injured or become sick because of their jobs. Death benefits are provided to surviving spouses and dependent children of workers who are killed on the job. The amount of compensation varies depending upon the relationship of the surviving dependents to the deceased worker and the laws of each state.

Regardless of whether or not there are dependents of the deceased worker, a reasonable expense for burial will be issued directly to the funeral director by the employer's insurance company to help pay for the cost of funeral expenses. The amount of the expense paid is determined by the Workers' Compensation Act.
